With too much compression the discs in the spine lose fluid and become thinner. As the discs lose fluid they become stiff and less able to absorb shock, which can lead to pain and discomfort. By routinely performing gentle decompression exercises on the spinal back block fluid can be reabsorbed into the disc, improving movement and reducing pain.
Lying backwards passively over the Spinal Back Block (using it horizontally under the buttocks) stretches tight muscles and contracted ligaments and allows pressure changes for reabsorption of fluid into the spinal discs.
How to use the Spinal Back Block
Place the spinal back block in position (as above) and lie there completely relaxed for 1 min. When using the back block for your low back ensure it is placed under the buttocks and not the low back. For best results you should perform this exercise at least 3 times throughout the day.
